What Is A Concussion?

A Concussion is a type of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that typically results from a sudden blow or jolt to the head. The impact can cause the brain to move rapidly back and forth in the skull, leading to temporary and/or long term changes in brain function.

A common misconception of concussions is that they only occur during sports, this is not true. Concussions can occur at anytime and during any type of activity, including work. It is important that if you suspect a concussion, please visit our website and book an appointment.

What Are The Symptoms Of A Concussion?

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Sensitivity to Light/Sound
  • Ringing in Ear
  • Personality Changes
  • Loss of Consciousness

Why Baseline?

Baseline Concussion testing provides valuable information on the severity of a concussion. This provides us practitioners with objective “data-driven” improvements, to ensure our treatment plan is progressing in the right direction. The baseline test provides valuable insights for a “safe” return to play protocol.

Concussion Baseline Testing

The Kinetic Centre is the only local clinic to incorporate the most advanced 3D motion capture system called Kinetisense.

The Concussion Baseline Test is an advanced series of balance tests (BESS Protocol) that provides practitioners with a baseline score in the case that a concussion happens in the future.

Objective Data

The 3D balance testing module by Kinetisense uses a single front-facing sensor to establish objective benchmark balance scores to enable accurate tracking throughout the rehabilitation process.

Reports

With simple reporting and measurable results, each patient can have a treatment protocol customized to their specific needs. By establishing baseline scores, Kinetisense makes it easy to identify where their balance could use improvement to allow for a more targeted treatment.

Progress

Keep track of patients progress with an objective solution that leads to superior patient outcomes. No other tool is as versatile, accurate, or easy to set up.
